AI platforms don’t read the web like a human does, they scan for established facts. They seek the fastest, clearest, most authoritative path to define your brand.
They prioritize what we can call High-Signal Anchor Points: dense chunks of text & semantic nodes that give the crawler exactly what it wants.
While an LLM can pull context from anywhere, you can quickly update your main narrative by changing things in a handful of visible locations:
- LinkedIn Headlines & Company Profiles: AI relies on popular domains. Your LI headline and company’s About tab are often among the first sources an AI leverages.
- Boilerplate Footer Descriptions: Because a footer is redundant and sits on every page of your site, it’s dense. AI weights this heavily as your definitive summary.
- Main Nav Links: All (but only) key pages should be listed within your header, as LLMs frequently extract these to list core products & services.
- Initial 100-200 Words: On key pages, begin with an “X is Y” format that defines relationships between your entities and what they offer.
- ‘About Us’ Intros & Author Bios: AI seeks out identity pages. A concise paragraph here provides ground truth for both companies & individual experts.
These anchor points offer some immediate control. Because they serve AI’s need to respond fast, they are also useful for publicizing a new product or service.
Even if your messaging is disjointed on the rest of your site and the web (which should be corrected eventually), AI models will latch onto these areas to figure out who you are and what you do. Consider things everywhere but start here when you need to see changes quickly!
