Almost Never Use Google’s Disavow Tool

In nearly all cases, I recommend against using Google’s Disavow Tool.

Google makes it clear that this tool needs to be used thoughtfully. Yet, many within SEO will disavow links as part of their technical audit. I’ve seen quite a few businesses disavow what looks spammy, only to lose important keyword rankings.

Nonetheless, this is essential when receiving a manual penalty. This is when a real human at Google has determined that your site is uncompliant with their webmaster guidelines. This penalty can be seen within Google Search Console and is frequently overlooked.
